DAY OF THE LEADERS OF THE BULGARIAN NATIONAL REVIVAL

NOVEMBER 1-st – DAY OF THE LEADERS OF THE BULGARIAN NATIONAL REVIVAL

Dear colleagues! Today Bulgaria pays tribute to the leaders of the Bulgarian national revival who preserved over the centuries the spiritual values of the nation and its morals.
  • The day of the leaders of the Bulgarian national revival was celebrated for the first time in Plovdiv in 1909.
  • With a decree of Tsar Boris III of 1 November 1923, this day was declared a national holiday in memory of all Bulgarians worthy to be remembered.
  • In 1945 the holiday was banned by the Communist regime.
  • On 28 October 1992 the celebrating was revived with an amendment to the Labour Code, adopted by the 36th National Assembly, whereby 1 November was officially declared a DAY OF THE LEADERS OF THE BULGARIAN NATIONAL REVIVAL and a non-working day for all educational institutions in the country.
Memory is strength, wisdom, and chance of survival.
The nations which honour the memory and the life-work of their ancestors on a special day are a few. For over a century, on the first day of November Bulgaria looks back to those who boldly and selflessly built the bridges we are following today.
Leaders are not born, not appointed, not created. Being a leader in spirit is a vocation and recognition. Today being awake it is not sufficient. Every man awakened by us is a step forward to CHANGE ...

To all who feel spiritual leaders, HAPPY HOLIDAY!!!
