About us

Founded in 1989, SOFITA Translation Agency went through all the difficulties of the then-newly evolving free market and gained the status of a business organisation in 1996. To date, we have successfully actualized our ambition to provide first-rate quality in the market of translation services. 

The skilled leadership and motivated team of competent experts, as well as demanding clients and foreign partners, are the driving force of SOFITA’s aspiration to apply best practices, high professional standards, and state-of-the-art technology. 

SOFITA reinforced its excellent organisation and uncompromising quality control by introducing ISO 9001: 2000. Later, in 2008, it demonstrated conformity with the European standard for translation services, EN 15038, and more recently, with the international standard ISO 17100, under which the agency was certified in March 2016.

Over the years, SOFITA has won its position of an indisputable leader in the translation market.  The energetic and competent team of managers and assistants skillfully organise, train, and coordinate more than 1000 interpreters, translators, and editors devoted to this difficult and responsible profession.  All of these prominently contribute to our professional advancement and to the building of our greatest asset: a positive reputation.

SOFITA OOD was a founding member of the Sofia Convention Bureau in 1995, as well as originator and founder of the Bulgarian Association of Professional Translation Agencies (BAPPA) in 2005. Our agency is a member and proactive player in the European Language Industry Association (ELIA), as well as in the Globalization and Localization Association (GALA).
